Tank chimes are known as the most common area for corrosion activity due to the increased exposure to air and rain-borne salt particles which amass over time. Water run of and moisture within these environments can transport this build up to the base of the tank resulting in a highly corrosive environment which impact the lower wall, the weld area, the periphery, and the underneath of the tank. Any seals applied during initial construction can become destroyed and damaged by tank expansion and movement, thus making them ineffective at protecting the asset against corrosion, thus requiring additional protection.
